Lay The World Down was developed during the artistic residency of the Constelações project, curated by Maitê Lacerda and carried out by SESC Pinheiros, São Paulo, Brazil.

Faced with the challenge of creating remotely together in the midst of the pandemic isolation period, Bruno Moreno and I — until then we did not know each other — decided to lie down daily, simultaneously, for 1 hour and 24 consecutive days: me in Uberlandia and Bruno in Barra Grande, Brazil.

The first meeting took place at 6 p.m. Each following day, we added an hour to the schedule, thus crossing all periods of the circadian cycle.

During this process, we exchanged recorded videos that did not reveal our bodies or faces, but rather the environments, textures, and materialities that surrounded us. In these exchanges, we shared impressions and sensations of the act of lying down as an encounter device.

The videos, shown side by side and in silence, create a visual dialogue between two worlds lying down.
